A Glimpse of the North Self-Drive Dublin & Belfast

Duration
5 Days
Prices From:
US$ 989

MODERATE | SELF-DRIVE: Starting and finishing in Dublin, on this self drive tour of the north of the Emerald Isle, you will have time to discover, at your leisure, historic sites, battlefields, Belfast itself, the Giant’s Causeway and above all, the beauty of the Irish countryside.

This interesting idea features 3-star accommodations. Car rental is not included but we can advise and arrange it.

Your self-drive tour begins in Dublin where you pick up your rental car. With an overnight here, you have time to explore the city with attractions such as O'Connell Street, the Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College and its Book of Kells, the Old Jameson Distillery and the many elegant Georgian Squares.

The following morning, drive north to Belfast through the Mountains of Mourne and to the Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick, which tells the story of Ireland's patron saint. Visit Down Cathedral where he is reputed to be buried. On arrival in Belfast where you will have 2 nights’ accommodation, take a walk around the city and perhaps include the Albert Memorial Clock Tower (compared to the Tower of Pisa), the Opera house, Queen’s University and the Botanical Gardens. Also, consider a visit to the newly opened Titanic Experience where a recreated story of the World’s most famous ship is exhibited complete with interactive exhibitions.

The next day heads further north to Antrim, through its beautiful glens arriving at the coast at Ballycastle. From here you will arrive at the fascinating spectacular Giants Causeway which is reputed to be 60 million years old. Legend has it that it was built by a fictitious Irish Giant under the sea all the way to Scotland to the east. Also take time to see Dunluce Castle, one of Northern Ireland's most iconic historic monuments and take in the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery.
Return to Dublin via the Boyne Valley which includes the Newgrange Tomb, unbelievably older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids plus the site of the famous and bloody 17th Century Battle of the Boyne and the Hill of Tara, an ancient prehistoric site.

Arrive back in Dublin for one more night’s accommodation.
