Across Downunder: Essence of Sydney, Perth & Adelaide with Airfare

Duration
12 Days
Prices From:
US$ 5,599

FIRST-CLASS | TAILOR-MADE: Dive into Sydney’s urban glamour on a guided tour of the Rocks and the world-famous Opera House before setting off on a Harbour dinner cruise. Marvel at the beauty of the Blue Mountains before heading to Perth to explore the otherworldly landscapes of Western Australia. Finish off in Adelaide and sip on the South’s top vintages in the Barossa Valley.

Explore three Australian capitals on this 12-day, air-inclusive trip across Australia. Travel from Sydney to Adelaide, and finally, Perth, to take in the magnificent west coast.

Sydney welcomes you to its sparkling harbour with an arrival day at leisure to relax, or explore parts of Sydney that interest you. You might want to visit Darling Harbour, stroll the beautiful Botanical Gardens, or trek out to bohemian Newtown for a little shopping. Your tour begins in earnest the following day, taking you back to the Aboriginal Dreamtime on a tour of the Rocks district. The indigenous people have called this land home for thousands of years, and this tour takes in the history behind the colonial facades. Then take a tour of Sydney Opera House, one of the world’s great architectural wonders, before a long dinner cruise on Sydney Harbour invites you to enjoy amazing views and one of Sydney’s best waterside restaurants.

The Blue Mountains is one of Australia’s pristine wilderness areas just west of Sydney. A stop at a local farm and wildlife sanctuary lets you see emus, kangaroos, koalas and wombats up close. Then take a day to explore the lookouts over Jamison Valley, home to many of the region’s most spectacular views including the Three Sisters rock formation.

Fly on to Adelaide, a mid-sized capital harbouring some of Australia’s tastiest secrets. Begin with a city tour that takes in this picture-perfect city's parks, monuments, and laneways. Take note of any restaurants, wine, or cocktail bars you might want to stop by later! Then embark on a full-day tour of the famous Barossa Valley, the wine region that has made Adelaide a must-stop for foodies everywhere. The hills surrounding the city aren’t all about wine, however. You’ll also spend a day exploring Fleurieu in a 4x4, with a picnic lunch amidst beautiful, rugged terrain.

Fly on to the final stop of your three-state tour, Western Australia. Start in Perth on the Swan River, then journey north to the Pinnacles Desert. This surreal landscape of limestone stacks rising above golden sands is reached via some of the most beautiful country in Australia. You’ll stop at Caversham Wildlife Park and the fishing town of Cervantes en route. Then head south to the Margaret River region, Western Australia’s premier wine producer, with photogenic sights such as Busselton Jetty and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

Finally, spend a day exploring the twin cities of Perth and Fremantle. Visit Kings Park Botanical Gardens and learn why Western Australia is called The Wildflower State. See some of Perth’s best beaches and the affluent suburbs that line them, and explore the history of culture and music-loving Fremantle before boarding your onward flight the following day.

Blue Mountains - Hike the World Heritage

The Blue Mountains National Park is one of seven national parks that make up the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. This wonderland of sandstone outcrops, deep ravines and hazy blue eucalypt forests boasts luxury retreats and stunning views. Today your guide will take you off the beaten track to visit remote lookout locations and discuss the history, flora and fauna of this magnificent region.

At 7:00am-7:30am depart from the hotel with AEA Luxury Tours. Our first stop of the day is at Calmsley Hill a working farm also home to Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats and Koalas. Enjoy morning tea and time to wander at leisure.

From Calmsley Hill we continue to ascend the Blue Mountains via the highway. We will visit one of the range of stunning outlooks of the Jamison Valley seeing beautiful vistas. Where possible this will be away from the crowds of tours that visit the mountains each day with other operators, thus our guests will enjoy a stress and hurry-free environment taking in the views and information imparted by their guide.

Continuing on we arrive at Eaglehawk Lookout, a remote lookout point away from the crowds for views of the famous 3 Sisters. Whilst the Blue Mountains features so much more than this natural attraction you can't help but admire the unquestionable beauty of this amazing rock formation. The character of the Three Sisters changes throughout the day and throughout the seasons as the sunlight brings out magnificent colors. Here your guide will discuss the legends behind this famous rock formation and the time available for you to take some great photos.

Traveling around the mountains, we arrive at Evans Lookout where you will be issued your lunch pack and instructions on the hiking track. This is, without doubt, one of the most scenic hikes available in the mountains taking you across a number of valleys and ridges as you hike from Evans Lookout to Govetts Leap all the while looking out across Australia's Grand Canyon, The Grose Valley. The Hike Concludes at Govetts Leap, one of the most famous lookouts in Australia. The magnificent waterfalls drop a whopping 180m to the base of the cliff. If you're not mesmerized by the dancing waves of water spray, you'll be transfixed by the sweeping views down the valley to the Grose Wilderness. Suitable for active people with a reasonable level of fitness.

Our last stop at the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens where there's time for a short inspection of the flora including the ancient Wollemi Pine (Wollemia Nobilis).

From here we commence our return to Sydney to arrive back at your hotel approximately 4:30pm-5:00pm.
