Like the city of Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, the End of the World Train ride is the worlds most southernmost train. Built on the backs of the convicts who were imprisoned in Ushuaia, it is a testament to the fortitude of the cities very first, though indentured, citizens. The railway station is 8km from the city inside the Tierra del Fuego National Park. The train dissects and travels around the shores of the many lagoons and rivers within the National Park. Departing from Ushuaia, you will drive out of the city, passing the slope of the Susana Mountain. After reaching the train station, you board the End of the World Train, which follows the route of the original tracks from colonial times. The train runs along the Rio Pipo, until it crosses the "Puente Quemado" (Burnt Bridge), where you can see the wooden ruins of the old bridge underneath the new one. Upon reaching the first stop "Cascada La Macarena", you have an option to climb to the lookout to see a beautiful waterfall or visit a recreating of a "Yamanas". The second stop is the Lombardich Station, where you can visit the ruins of the old sawmill. Finally, after passing through a dense forest of "coihues" and "beech", the train arrives at the final station of "Tierra del Fuego. You can then walk to the end of the park and the official end of the Pan American highway which starts in Anchorage Alaska, you will truly feel that you have arrived at the End of the World!
