With kids in mind, this introduction to Australia visits historic Sydney and the Gold Coast. It even includes a trip to the Crocodile Hunter’s Australia Zoo.

A flexible introduction to Australia, this 9 day trip is designed with families in mind, taking in Sydney and Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Enjoy 4 nights at leisure in Australia’s most historic city. Perhaps hop a ferry over to Taronga Zoo or Manly Beach. Either way, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House the way they were meant to be seen – from the water. Your accommodation places you in Darling Harbour, home to many favourite attractions including Sydney Aquarium, Powerhouse Museum and the (free!) Australian Maritime Museum. Consider a tour around the Rocks district, or pack a picnic and head for the Botanical Gardens for a bargain family lunch right by one of the world’s greatest harbours.

A description of the Gold Coast reads like a family vacation wish-list. Thrilling theme parks, nature reserves, colourful characters and mile after mile of beautiful, sandy beach. Included is a day trip up to Australia Zoo, former home of the Crocodile Hunter, which continues its commitment to ‘conservation through education’. The return trip passes the impressive Glasshouse Mountains. Spend the rest of your time at will – though a visit here isn’t complete without a day at one of the Coast’s famous theme parks, and another spent having fun on the beach.

Day 1

Arrive Sydney

On arrival at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport meet your driver and transfer to the hotel. The balance od the day is at leisure to relax or explore this vibrant city at your own pace.

Sydney is located on the east coast of the country in the state of New South Wales. It is Australia’s biggest and most cosmopolitan city and an essential stop on any traveller’s Australia vacation. Surrounding the city is a wonderland of national parks, forests, mountains, river valleys and historic riverside towns. The first settlers arrived in 1788 came here to create a penal colony, finding the world’s largest natural harbour, and 70 beaches along the coast within a reasonable distance of the city. In more recent times, Sydney also hosted the 2000 Olympic Games.
