Botswana Wildlife Breakaway: Victoria Falls, Chobe, Okavango Delta & More

Duration
15 Days
Prices From:
US$ 4,712

MODERATE | SMALL-GROUP: There’s Africa, and then there’s Botswana. This very special trip explores two of the country's best loved wildlife areas, and takes you on to see much more.

This 15-day round trip from Victoria Falls takes you to some of Africa’s most impressive national parks and reserves, including Hwange National Park, Chobe, and the Okavango Delta.

From Victoria Falls, set out for Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve. Over 100 mammals and 400 bird species call the Park home, including one of the largest surviving groups of African Wild Dog. Other predators to be found include Leopards, hyenas and Cheetahs. The park also boasts unusually large numbers of elephants, buffalo and giraffes.

Crossing into Botswana, you’ll visit Nata Bird Sanctuary and the Khwai River region. Though not as famous as other Botswana wildlife regions, Khwai frequently offers exceptional viewing, particularly of the country’s predators including the big cats. The better known Okavango Delta is your next stop, offering a very different viewing experience. This is the world’s largest inland delta, flowing into the Kalahari Desert without reaching the coast. Explore by boat and on foot, spotting elephants, waterbuck and other creatures that thrive in these wetlands.

Spend a night in Namibia, a country best known for unique desert landscapes and equally unique fauna. You’d need a separate trip to see it all, but as you explore the Caprivi Strip, keep a lookout for roan, kudu and Kalahari Elephants – enough to give you a taste of this fascinating country before returning to Botswana. Your final wildlife destination is Chobe National Park, best known for Africa’s largest concentration of elephants. You might also expect to see hippos, crocodiles and an impressive variety of birds before your return to Victoria Falls. A full day here includes a guided tour, but with time to spare, you may consider a helicopter ride or a Zambezi river cruise before you depart.

This large area is renowned for its concentration of mammals and it is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife during just one game drive. Game viewing is seasonal; depending on the time of the year you may see different species in different areas. The best time for game viewing is the end of the dry season or spring from August to November. During this season, in order for us to offer the best game viewing possible, extra driving may be required due to the animals migrating closer to the river. In the summer, birdlife can also be viewed in abundance with exceptional sightings of wildfowl and raptors. Please note there is no electricity at Bedouin Bush Camp. Total distance travelled 420 km.
