African River Safari: Chobe Princess

Duration
3-4 Days
Prices From:
US$ 993

FIRST-CLASS | CRUISE: Those who say you can’t do an Africa safari on the water have never been to Botswana. See the rich wildlife of the Chobe River and its surrounds on the ideal short cruise journey for animal lovers.

This 3 or 4-day cruise on the Chobe River offers you a very different perspective on one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich nations, Botswana. With a proactive approach to conservation, Botswana has ensured its safari opportunities are among the best on the continent. You’ll sail down the river between Chobe National Park and neighbouring Namibia.

Check into your Zambezi Queen suite aboard the exclusive Chobe Princess, your luxurious houseboat for the next three nights. Travelling down the Chobe River between Chobe National Park and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, you’ll be in a prime position to see the animals. Chobe is home to the world’s largest population of elephants, numbering around 120,000. You may also see lions, giraffes, hippo, crocodiles, leopards, and even rarer animals as you make your way down the river.

Tender boats take you in for a closer look at areas the main vessel can’t reach. You may also wish to partake in a village tour, for an insight into Namibia’s human cultures. Traditional African entertainment and delicious meals showcasing traditional local foods are also part of your journey. You may also opt for a land-based 4x4 safari to broaden your game-spotting even further. You can even try a spot of local fishing.

Day 2

Chobe River

We know that some guests like to watch the sunrise as they sip on their coffee while others like to take a more leisurely approach. That's why we let you choose your morning activities, depending on the type of holiday you're searching for. Perhaps you want to enjoy a water-based safari or a village tour on the Namibian side of the river? Or perhaps you'd prefer a spot of bird watching or fishing instead? You may even decide to simply remain on board as the Chobe Princess glides its way along the banks of the Chobe River.

After your morning activities, enjoy lunch on board while using your unique vantage point to spot wild animals and drink in the expansive views. Join our guide in the afternoon for a water-based safari on a tender boat where you can get up close to an array of wildlife, including some of the 120 000 elephants for which the Chobe is well known.
