Nile River Cruise: Sonesta Dahabiya from Aswan

Duration
8 Days
Prices From:
US$ 2,230

FIRST-CLASS | CRUISE: Dahabiyas are upscale, luxurious boutique sailing boats. This stylish river boat was common in Egypt during the days of the monarchy when aristocrats loved to cruise in luxury. Dahabiyas are perfect vessels for families or small groups as they have 4-8 cabins and can be booked on an exclusive basis.

This 8-day Nile cruise takes you to the most awe-inspiring sights of Upper Egypt, from Aswan to Luxor. Visit the Aswan Dam, the temples of Sobek and Horus, and walk through one of Egypt’s most famous mysteries, the Valley of the Kings.

Settle into your luxury cabin aboard the Dahabiya before visiting the Aswan High Dam and Philae Temple, relocated to avoid the rising waters of Lake Nasser when the damn was constructed. Sail on to Kom Ombo, and visit the dual temple dedicated to Sobek and Horus. Then visit the Temple of Edfu, before a day simply sailing the Nile River.

Upon reaching Luxor, explore the temple complex of Amon-Ra at Karnak, as well as the Luxor Temple. The best is saved for last. On the West Bank, you’ll explore the Valley of the Kings, where Tutankhamen was discovered in 1922. You’ll also visit the Valley of the Queens, Medinet Habu Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon before returning for one last night aboard ship.
