DELUXE | CRUISE: Cruise down the Nile to explore the majesty of Ancient Egypt. See the tombs of past rulers in the Valley of the Kings and Queens in Luxor, marvel at the well-preserved reliefs of the Temple of Horus is Edfu, and bask in the luxury comforts of a boutique river vessel during your downtime.

This 5-day cruise explores the treasures of Ancient Egypt from aboard a luxury river vessel, Sanctuary Sun Boat IV.

Cruise down the Nile aboard Sanctuary Sun Boat IV, a contemporary boutique boat with an art deco influence. Its 40 cabins and suites feature stunning river views and ensuite bathrooms. The modern fittings, cutting-edge technology and sophisticated public areas with teak flooring and eye-catching furniture make the vessel a luxurious floating haven on the Nile.Take part in onboard activities such as cooking classes with accomplished chefs or traditional galabeya parties, or relax in the sundeck’s pool, watching the mystical landscape pass you by. Key to the experience aboard Sanctuary Sun Boat IV is the presence of Sanctuary Retreats’ Egyptologists, who accompany you on excursions and provide expert insight and access.

Your exploration of Ancient Egypt begins in Luxor, a city of splendour in the country’s south-central region. Situated on the banks of the Nile, Luxor was the site of ancient Thebes, the pharaoh’s capital from the 16th to 11th centuries, B.C. You’ll think you’ve wandered into a giant open-air museum, such is Luxor’s wealth of marvelous ruins. Stroll through the famous Temple of Karnak and marvel at the dedication to the god Amun at the Temple of Luxor. Venture into the Valley of the Kings and Queens to see the elaborate tombs of the pharaohs and ponder what it must’ve felt like for Howard Carter to discover Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922.

Continue down the Nile towards Edfu to see the Temple of Horus, one of Egypt’s best-preserved ancient sites. The temple helped Egyptologists unlock the secrets of the ancient world due to the quality of its wall reliefs. Then head to the Temple of Kom Ombo to see tributes to the crocodile god, Sobek. Finally, arrive in Aswan, a charming centre off the beaten path for most tourists. Explore the Philae Temple and the ancient stone quarries that supplied the stone for the pyramids before riding a felucca or traditional sailboat out on the waters of the Nile.

This cruise down the Nile offers the splendour of an ancient civilization and the comforts of a luxury ship on an Egypt tour.
