FIRST-CLASS | ESCORTED COACH TOUR: Known by millions around the world as the “Holyland”, Israel is a captivating destination and a must-visit for any serious globetrotter. Learn the amazing story of this land and its people.
A land with a culture spanning Roman, Middle Eastern and biblical history, Israel is one of the richest travel destinations on the planet. Spend 9 days in the Holy Land, discovering an Israel both ancient and new.
Explore the ruins of Caesarea, the Roman capital of Judea, then continue your archaeological adventure at Megiddo. Allegedly the site of Armageddon, Megiddo’s tactical significance has seen it endure many battles in the meantime, often during conflicts with Egypt, and as recently as World War 1. Coastal Haifa is home to picturesque Persian Gardens and the Shrine of the Bab, considered the second holiest place on Earth for the Baha’i Faith. Your day of sightseeing ends at the ancient harbour city of Acre.
After a morning tour of Tiberias, cross the Sea of Galilee to the towns of Capernaum and Tabgha, where the Miracle of Loaves and Fishes is said to have taken place. Another legendary New Testament site awaits you at the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. You’ll also take a short tour of the Golan Heights before continuing to Nazareth.
As the childhood home of Jesus, it’s no surprise that Nazareth is a treasure trove of biblical history. Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, the workshop of St Joseph and Mary’s Well. Then continue on to Yardenit, an historic place of baptism that attracts visitors of all faiths. Visit the Roman Theatre of Beit Shean.
4 nights in the holy city of Jerusalem takes you to a wealth of sacred and historic sites including the Mount of Olives, the Church of All Nations, the Room of Last Supper and the tomb of King David. Within the old city, you’ll find the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and many others. Day trips take you to Ein Karem, home to the Church of Visitation, the Holocaust memorial at Yad Vashem, and Bethlehem, to visit the Church of Nativity.
Also on your tour is a stop at the Israel Museum, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. These were discovered at the ancient city of Qumran, your next day trip on this incredible journey. Stop in at the Dead Sea before a cable car takes you to the peak of Masada, where 960 Jewish rebels chose death over enslavement to the conquering Romans. Modern day Israeli troops are often sworn in amid these impressive ruins, in a ceremony ending with the declaration “Masada shall not fall again.”
Transfer back to Tel Aviv for your departure, or take an extra few days here to enjoy the beating heart of today’s Israel.
