Day 2

Thermal Springs & Night Tour

This morning, relax and enjoy the facilities at your hotel. The Tabacón experience includes access to the natural hot springs. Gravity propelled throughout the property, forming in-river pools, waterfalls and cascades, these natural pools are located along walking trails surrounded by steaming tropical gardens. Located in a secluded section, Shangri-La Gardens is an area of six natural thermal mineral spring water pools, exclusively for adults. Later in the day, as sunset approaches, meet your private driver-guide in the hotel lobby and set off for the small town of La Tigra. Once you arrive, amble down a trail into a small patch of rainforest that is in the process of regeneration. Here, among mirrored lakes, you can expect to see a range of nocturnal birds and mammals, insects, amphibians, bats, and more. Further along the trail you’ll reach a frog sanctuary, which is an area dedicated to the regeneration and natural reproduction of an incredible range of species such as the dart frog and the bull frog, the smallest and largest species in Costa Rica, as well as the spectacular Red Eyed Tree Frog and the beautiful Glass Frog. After the tour, settle in for a tasty Costa Rican dinner prepared on a wood burning stove, dining while taking in night-lit views of the San Carlos Valley. After dinner, your driver-guide will return you to your hotel. It is highly recommended to bring hiking shoes or durable sneakers, comfortable dark clothing, a rain coat, and insect repellent.

Day 3

Exploring Arenal Volcano

The biggest attraction in the north of Costa Rica, by far, is Arenal volcano, so why not enjoy it to the fullest on a private-guided and picturesque tour? This outing combines the enjoyment of a boat ride, a walk through the National Park forest and unsurpassed views of the colossus. The tour will begin with a short walk in the Peninsula Sector of the Arenal Volcano National Park, near Lake Arenal. It is an accessible trail of that takes approximately 1 hour to explore. During the walk, take in excellent views of the lake and the Tilarán volcanic mountain range from the different observation points along the way. Perhaps the nicest observation deck, about 10 meters (33 feet) high, will allow you to admire the volcano closely and here you will learn about the history, active cycles and geological formation of the region. At the end of the hike, enjoy some fresh tropical fruits and then board a boat for a ride along the gorgeous lake. Navigating the lake you’ll observe the rainforest, islands, water fowl and many of the animals that call this area home. After a 45-minute boat ride, you will arrive at the Arenal Lake boat station, disembark, and be transferred back to your hotel.
